Abstract

The problem of children's learning motivation is very urgent to solve. Furthermore, teacher competence has an important role in this. So that this study aims to determine the level of competence of Islamic religious education teachers, to determine the level of student motivation, and to determine the factors that affect children's learning motivation in Islamic religious education subjects. The results showed: 1) The assessment given by respondents to the Competence of Teachers of Islamic Education at SMPN 1 Singingi Hilir is 57% where the score is in the Good category. this means that Teacher Competence is good. 2) Students' learning motivation at SMPN 1 Singingi Hilir is 60% of students are in the low category. This means that children's learning motivation still needs to be improved. Furthermore, 23% in the Medium category. Only about 17% of children have high learning motivation. 3) Based on the results of the interview, the factors that influence children's learning motivation in Islamic religious education subjects are the competence of Islamic education teachers. The role of the competence of Islamic religious education teachers in increasing student learning motivation is very large, including: a) The competence of Islamic Religious Education Teachers at SMP 1 Singingi Hilir in motivating students during the teaching and learning process varies widely, through stories of the Prophet or life stories a human being who deserves to be emulated, giving direction in behavior or morals, the most important thing is the inculcation of praiseworthy qualities, a good attitude to teachers, school friends, and both parents. b) Teachers of Islamic Education are also activities that motivate students to practice religion, c) direct students in activities that increase the values ​​of worship, this is supported by an Islamic environment and the number of spiritual activities.
