ANALISIS LITERASI MASYARAKAT KECAMATAN TEMBILAHAN KABUPATEN INDRAGIRI HILIR TENTANG PERBANKAN SYARIAH
Abstract
This research was motivated by the large number of people in Tembilahan District who do not have accounts at Islamic banks and prefer conventional banks as a place for financial transactions, with the community of the Muslim community. This study aims to determine the literacy or understanding of the Tembilahan District Community about Sharia Banking. This type of research is qualitative research. The population in this study is the Tembilahan District Community which amounted to 78,140 people, with sampling using the slovin formula, the researcher obtained 44 respondents who were sampled in this study. With data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. As well as technical data analysis in a qualitative descriptive manner using percentage formulas. The results of this study can be concluded that from the majority of the people of Tembilahan District, Indragiri Hilir Regency with a percentage of people who are Muslims of 96.92%, but the results of data processing from the distribution of questionnaires and interviews found that the literacy level of the people of Tembilahan District about Islamic banking was only 29%, then respondents in this study said that they did not know what a Sharia bank is and how the operational system is, In addition, respondents did not understand about Islamic Banks that are interest-free but use the principle of profit sharing. Even respondents said they did not understand at all about what Islamic banking is and did not know what the difference between Islamic Banks and Conventional Banks is. It can be concluded that the understanding of the people of Tembilahan sub-district about Islamic banking is not good.
