Abstract

The Village chief is the leader and coordinator of governance in the working area of ​​the kelurahan which in carrying out their duties obtains delegation of governmental authority from the regent/mayor. As a leader, the lurah has several leadership roles that must be carried out. The leadership role is a behavior or position occupied by a leader who is expected to be able to carry it out well and be able to influence, encourage and supervise his subordinates in achieving the goals set. Leadership roles include interpersonal roles, decisional roles, and informational roles that can improve employee performance.The research was conducted at the Sungai Jering Village Office, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with the withdrawal of informants using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques that the authors use are interview techniques, observation, documentation, and triagulation. Data analysis was carried out by reducing data, then presenting data and finally drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the lurah's leadership role in improving employee performance as an interpersonal role, the role of decision maker and the role of information sources based on Mintzberg's theory plays a significant role.
