Abstract

Article 28 of the 1945 Constitution also states that freedom of expression is one of the fundamental rights protected by the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia (UUD NRI 1945). This is even further clarified in Article 28f, which reads: "Everyone has the right to communicate and obtain information to develop their social environment, and has the right to seek, obtain, possess, store, process and convey information using the types of available channels." The law against journalists in carrying out journalistic activities already exists in Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press, but in reality the regulation has not been maximally implemented, so it still causes problems, for example, there are often criminal acts against journalists in carrying out their profession.
